About The Opportunity
Position Summary
Oversees the daily production operations and other assigned areas. Monitors operations for efficiency and safety, ensuring that all applicable regulatory requirements are met/followed. Develops production schedules to meet internal goals as well as expectations of customers. Oversees production staff, including hiring/training of personnel.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
  • Establishes operational strategies to assure company objectives in the areas of safety, productivity, quality, customer
  • service, sales, human capital, cost and profitability
  • Accountable for assigned site’s key performance metrics including machine and labor efficiencies and provides guidance to
  • departmental leaders to ensure scorecard objectives are met
  • Proactively monitors site capacity and collaborates with other sites on scheduling optimization to meet internal and
  • external customer on-time-delivery demands
  • Conducts equipment feasibility studies and makes recommendations for investment; works with Finance to prepare capital
  • expenditure plan and is accountable for payback expectations
  • Collaborates with cross-functional leaders to set continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence
  • Prepares and manages the annual financial plan and monitors performance through forecasting and/or other company
  • reports
  • Ensures the overall maintenance and security of facilities, grounds, utilities and equipment
  • Provides guidance on staffing, training, employee relations and performance management to develop and enhance the
  • Operations function, working closely with direct reports
  • Interacts with key stakeholders to provide technical support, explore new business opportunities, and/or resolve order

  • Maintains industry, professional and technical knowledge by networking, attending industry events, and reviewing

Essential to this Position

The site is approximately 315,000 square feet, holds approximately 20,000 pallet positions and runs approximately 18 light manufacturing, point of purchase display assembly and re-packing / co-packing production lines on multiple shifts. The operations manager and Fontana, CA site is a key member and contributor to a larger team of peer sites across North America and part of a vertically integrated supply chain within Menasha. The operations manager is also a key contact with sales and customer teams and has daily collaboration with customers on management and delivery of customer programs.

  • Provide overall leadership and daily direction for the Fontana, CA site.
  • Responsible for all site safety, quality, production and people objectives.
  • Achieve customer delivery and business performance objectives.
  • Create and foster a culture of collaboration, teamwork, opportunity and continuous improvement. Manage site regulatory and quality standards and results.
  • Evaluate, propose and implement improvements and capital projects that support overall business objectives.

  • Knowledge of methods, accepted practices, considerations and regulatory requirements associated with safety and protection of workers, environment and site
  • Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials throughout the manufacturing cycle
  • Knowledge of day-to-day and strategic issues, operational requirements and management of a manufacturing facility
  • Knowledge of the existing and planned approaches and methods for manufacturing products or product components
  • Knowledge of and ability to use and influence organization's policies, standards and procedures guiding manufacturing processes
  • Ability to lead people and get results through others
  • Ability to think ahead and plan over a specific time span
  • Ability to establish high performance teams and a strong team player
