About The Opportunity
Position Summary
Oversees the daily production operations and other assigned areas. Monitors operations for efficiency and safety, ensuring that all applicable regulatory requirements are met/followed. Develops production schedules to meet internal goals as well as expectations of customers. Oversees production staff, including hiring/training of personnel.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
  • Establishes operational strategies to assure company objectives in the areas of safety, productivity, quality, customer service, sales, human capital, cost and profitability
  • Accountable for assigned site’s key performance metrics including machine and labor efficiencies and provides guidance to departmental leaders to ensure scorecard objectives are met
  • Proactively monitors site capacity and collaborates with other sites on scheduling optimization to meet internal and external customer on-time-delivery demands
  • Conducts equipment feasibility studies and makes recommendations for investment; works with Finance to prepare capital expenditure plan and is accountable for payback expectations
  • Collaborates with cross-functional leaders to set continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence
  • Prepares and manages the annual financial plan and monitors performance through forecasting and/or other company reports
  • Ensures the overall maintenance and security of facilities, grounds, utilities and equipment
  • Provides guidance on staffing, training, employee relations and performance management to develop and enhance the Operations function, working closely with direct reports
  • Interacts with key stakeholders to provide technical support, explore new business opportunities, and/or resolve order problems or complaints
  • Maintains industry, professional and technical knowledge by networking, attending industry events, and reviewing professional publications


Essential to this Position

The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for the leadership and profitable operation of all allocated service centers under their direction and ensuring best practices are followed pertaining to safety, production and human resources.  The Regional Operations Manager is expected to build and grow a management team that is able to create a safe work environment, meet customer expectations and foster a continuous improvement mentality with all employees.

  • Seamless day to day execution of operations within their assigned business units
  • Daily review of production metrics and KPI’s (Labor expense, Forklift/Machine Repairs, Cost/Sort, Sorts/Hour)
  • Evaluate and make adjustments if necessary to achieve budgeted financial goals
  • Maintain and enforce standard operating procedures consistent throughout division in relation to production, quality and safety.
  • Perform facility audits on service centers relative to production and safety requirements
  • Establish and maintain professional relationship with customer
  • Interview, recommend and hire all Service Center Managers within assigned business units
  • Facilitate training of all new Service Center Managers
  • Provide leadership across service centers by demonstrating ORBIS values and culture
  • Develop continuous improvement training for Service Center Managers relative to operational excellence, employee relations and financial strategies
  • Motivate and train employees to maintain succession plan for future growth/opportunities
  • Consistently enforce ORBIS polices through discipline action process
  • Host weekly, monthly and/or quarterly meetings with Service Center Managers
  • Achieve budgeted financial goals for assigned business units
  • Assist Operations Manager in annual Budgeting and forecasting process

Knowledge, Skills, Or Abilities Desired
  • Knowledge of methods, accepted practices, considerations and regulatory requirements associated with safety and protection of workers, environment and site
  • Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials throughout the manufacturing cycle
  • Knowledge of day-to-day and strategic issues, operational requirements and management of a manufacturing facility
  • Knowledge of the existing and planned approaches and methods for manufacturing products or product components
  • Knowledge of and ability to use and influence organization's policies, standards and procedures guiding manufacturing processes
  • Ability to lead people and get results through others
  • Ability to think ahead and plan over a specific time span
  • Ability to establish high performance teams and a strong team player
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product recipes/material identifications
  • Preferred core understanding and/or experience in supply chain related activities (i.e. transportation, reverse logistics, cleaning and sanitation, asset tracking)
  • Proven understanding of safety and OSHA compliant processes
  • Superior leadership skills with proven ability to effectively manage and develop a diverse team of people, and facilitate effective cross-business synergies (Bi-Lingual a plus)
  • Intermediate financial knowledge sufficient to understand/build/manage financial budgets and statements
  • Trained and proficient utilizing LEAN Manufacturing practices and at least 3 years of LEAN, 5S and process improvement experience
